Get Set for Workboat 2050 returns for its 6th series of cutting-edge conferences and quick fire sessions on the future of greening the commercial marine and workboat sector.

In partnership with Seawork, Maritime Journal and The Workboat Association, the panel of industry specialists will provide real-world case studies, clean tech breakthroughs, and the innovations driving decarbonisation and cost savings across the sector.

As the maritime sector advances toward greater autonomy, this session will explore the opportunities and challenges shaping the deployment of remote-operated, semi-autonomous, and fully autonomous vessels.

Attendees will gain insights into the emerging IMO frameworks that are guiding global regulatory approaches, while also considering the practical realities of integrating autonomy into fleet operations.

Key discussion points will include:

  • Classification of maritime autonomy and how it influences operational strategy.
  • Impacts on the workforce, from system supervision to the adoption of advanced control software.

Scalable pathways for implementing autonomy across the workboat sector.

By examining both regulatory alignment and operational readiness, this session aims to provide clarity on how workboat operators can prepare for and benefit from the transition to autonomy.

This event will take place at The Workboat Assocation AGM at Oulton Hall, Leeds on 18th November 2025.
