The UK Maritime Research and Technology Roadmap is taking shape but needs industry input to get it right. Following successful workshops throughout late 2025, MarRI-UK in partnership with the Society of Maritime Industries (SMI) have developed an initial draft roadmap to guide long-term public investment and help industry, especially SMEs, plan strategic innovation.

The roadmap now needs validation and MarRI-UK are hosting workshops in early 2026 to refine priorities and ensure the roadmap truly represents the diverse maritime ecosystem.

The first workshop will take place on 22nd January 2026, 1300 - 1600 (with networking lunch from 1200) at IMechE, One Birdcage Walk, London, SW1H 9JJ.

This focused session will offer a valuable opportunity to review emerging priorities across technology development, infrastructure, skills, regulation, and market readiness—whilst connecting with fellow maritime leaders over lunch.

Additional workshops are scheduled in:

Glasgow – 16th February (ahead of the SMI conference) 2026.

Liverpool – 25th February 2026.
