3 New Maritime Innovation Exchange Challenges from KTN
KTN are promoting several new marine related open challenges on their Innovation Exchange site:
Approaches to mitigate against stranded diesel assets
The innovation exchange is looking for innovative solutions for avoiding the 'stranding' of diesel-powered assets in ports and harbours. Click here for more information.
Approaches to delivering energy supplies to Ships in Port - Efficient connections
The innovation exchange is looking for innovative solutions for delivering energy efficiently to ships whilst in port. This challenge is being split into two sub-challenges; managing energy being delivered to ships and making efficient connections.
The winning business(es) in this competition will be given an opportunity to present their solutions to a group of major port operators such as the Royal Navy, ABP Limited, BAE Systems, Port of Cromarty Firth, Forth Ports Limited, Port of London Authority, Vattenfall Networks with the potential of a commercial opportunity to deliver their solution.
The closing date for this challenge is 25th March 2021. Click here for more information.
Approaches to delivering energy supplies to Ships in Port - Efficient energy management
The innovation exchange is looking for innovative solutions for delivering energy efficiently to ships in port. Solutions to this challenge must consider the availability of energy supply and the different demands of ships and port side equipment to explore efficient means of managing the electrical energy supplies, which are not infinite and are often in high demand. Electrical energy is supplied through a combination of predominantly grid supply and augmented by diesel powered generators and increasingly other non-fossil fuel derived sources including energy storage systems, such as large scale batteries, powered by PV or wind. The closing date for this challenge is 25th March 2021. Click here for more information.
Mobile services of Zero Emission Berth power provision in the tidal Thames
The innovative exchange is seeking innovative approaches to provide the tidal Thames with a solution to provide smart flexible zero emission power provision, as a service available 24/7 at the waterside, from berths throughout the Port of London. The winning business(es) in this competition will be given an opportunity to present their solutions to the Port of London Authority, with the potential of a commercial opportunity to deliver their solution.
