PESO project hosts successful workshop with port stakeholders
Energy Systems Catapult, as part of the PESO project, hosted a workshop on 25th February 2021 with port stakeholder groups. The purpose of the workshop was to gather input from key stakeholders about the energy consumption of UK ports and surrounding areas and how usage will transition to net zero emissions by 2050.
The workshop was attended by 26 representatives from a broad range of sectors including port authorities, local and central government, academia and research and marine technology SMEs.
The workshop was focused around four main themes: Local Area Energy Networks, Port Activities and Vessels, Surrounding Industries and Local Area Land Transport.
Taking a wider system view of UK ports, the outputs from this workshop will be used as a springboard to develop the commercialisation strategy for the PESO project going forward. The information gathered is being used to outline the opportunities and risks to the route to market for the system as well as developing an understanding of the future of the complex energy pathways of UK ports and their surrounding areas.
