The MarLEM (Maritime and Logistics Engineering and Management) project, of which MSE International is a partner,  is launching the first edition of its Masters in Maritime Logistics (MML) in September 2022, under the auspices of the Nova School of Science and Technology, NOVA at the University of Lisbon.

The Masters degree in Maritime Logistics (MML) is an innovative international program consisting of multiple aspects of maritime logistics, operations and supporting technology, trade law, port administration, maritime business analysis, as well as leadership and managerial skills. In addition, the students will be given the opportunity to complete a three-month internship or implement a final project in one of the leading companies of the maritime logistics cluster. Academic institutions and firms from Europe are taking part in the development of this program and will collaborate in the delivery of the curriculum.

The program offers the chance for students for become professionals in maritime logistics and offers optimal technical and managerial preparation regarding the current and future challenges being faced by the industry. The qualification would be of particular interest to:

  • Integrated Logistics Managers
  • Maritime Supply Chain specialists
  • Port Managers
  • Shipping/Transport technicians and managers

The Blue Economy has the potential to deliver growth and jobs but is dependent on addressing the growing skills gap. A European Commission Growth Survey identified the importance of this and highlighted the need for education and industry to work together to develop training for the knowledge-intensive blue skills sector.

To assist with this the EU Blue Careers program is part-funding the MarLEM (Maritime and Logistics Engineering and Management) project to develop this Joint Masters course in Maritime and Logistics meeting the sector's needs and suitable for delivery by European Maritime Universities.

MarLEM is looking for companies and organisations to work with the project partners by hosting projects and internships to accompany the course. These companies and organisations can be based in any European country. For businesses, this will be an opportunity to gain privileged access to highly skilled and motivated professionals graduating from the MML. In addition, participating organisations will have the possibility to participate in the delivery of the courses via seminars, workshops or expert interventions.
