The EU LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES project needs voluteers.

They have already managed to plant 1.5ha of seagrass so far but need to plant another hectare in both Plymouth and the Solent this spring – that’s 20,000 bags to be packed, for both areas, in a very short window when the sea conditions are just right for the seeds to germinate.

LIFE Recreation ReMEDIES is focusing on how sensitive seabed habitats are impacted by recreational activities. Together, the partnership aims to:

• Reduce recreational pressures on sensitive habitats
• Restore and protect sensitive habitats
• Promote awareness of these habitats and their importance

ReMEDIES is funded by the EU LIFE programme and led by Natural England in partnership with The Royal Yachting Association, Marine Conservation Society, Ocean Conservation Trust and Plymouth City Council/Tamar Estuaries Consultative Forum.
