Solent Partners has been awarded over £1.2m from the Department for Education (DfE) to set up six Skills Bootcamps to support adults to retrain and upskill in local priority sectors. One of these is aimed at meeting local employer demand in the maritime sector.

South Hampshire College Group is delivering a course that has been developed in close consultation and input from maritime transport and logistics industry experts, to provide learners with enhanced enrichment opportunities such as research visits, industry placements and collaborative project-based learning both in the UK and abroad.

Skills Bootcamps are for adults looking to update or build skills. They are free for those who are unemployed or self-employed while employers who send their staff on the course contribute.

The flexible course lasts up to 16 weeks and is classroom-based, on-the-job, and online.
